"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal”. I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood…… I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character......Martin Luther King Jr "

FELLOW PATRIOTS,
Though without a voting right in the ongoing party primaries of the Democrats in the USA, like everybody around the world, we are very much involved because of the global implications the outcome of the elections would have on the world.

We are particularly thrilled by the feat of Barack Obama because for the very first time in the history of the USA, he has successfully broken the colour bar. We are even more thrilled that white voters rally forcefully behind this charismatic black man in his quest to become the first black president in the most powerful nation on earth. Like Mr. Martins King Jr. said, today he is no longer being judged by the color of his skin but by the content of his character which has propelled him from near obscurity to international limelight. In Barack Obama, the agitations of early black nationalists such as Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Du Bois, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and so many others found concrete expressions as he attains leverage in the political calculation of the USA that would no longer ignore Afro-Americans and their electoral strength. To us, this is a feat worthy of celebration as the dawn of a new era.

In Lagos, a city of over 17million people, the emergence of  this black phenomenon deepens the motivation to be an active force in the great change coursing through the world today.
Conversely, if a black man thrives anywhere around the globe, it behooves us to celebrate him. The Success of Barack Obama so far has ignited in us a rare privilege to raise our head high in pride. Whichever way the context turns out, it can conveniently be said that the man diligently engaged the political space with uncommon gusto.
The Obama political phenomenon has taken a life of its own. In a mild discussion between two friends, the concept of OBAMA NIGERIA INITIATIVES, LAGOS was born. In the very first day, 30 members of 40 in the highly respected LAGOS STATE PARLIAMENT, representing 75% of the entire population of Lagos State signed up and the list continue to grow.

Our mission is to continue building support base for this illustrious "Obamania" by popularizing what he represent through the production of souvenirs and other materials particularly in Lagos and generally in Nigeria. It is our aim to enlist as many as five million Nigerians from all walks of life; market men / women, artisans, academia, public service, trade unions and as many professional bodies as we could to this  for this moral crusade; who share in our dream that the black man deserves its rightful place in the new World Order just unfolding before our very eyes. We share with millions across the world that an Obama Presidency would bring global peace.

Sign up today for OBAMA NIGERIA INITIATIVES, LAGOS as we CELEBRATE THE BLACK MAN AND DEMOCRACY. “YES WE CAN”
Thank you.

HON. ADEWUNMI ONIBIYO ADELABU
